122 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russia overnight

During the period from 23:30 Moscow time on July 16 to 7:00 Moscow time on July 17, 122 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down over Russian territory, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The most drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Bryansk and Kursk regions – 43 and 38, respectively.

10 UAVs were shot down over the Oryol region, six over the Smolensk and Voronezh regions, and five over the Belgorod region.

Over the Moscow and Kaluga regions, the air defense forces on duty destroyed three drones each, over Crimea – also three, over the Leningrad and Lipetsk regions – two each. Over the territory of the Tula region, one UAV was shot down.

All the drones were aircraft-type.

Earlier it was reported that on the evening of July 16 Belgorod  was struck by a UAV. “A civilian was killed. From the injuries received, the man died on the spot”, – the regional head Vyacheslav Gladkov pointed out. According to him, six people were wounded. All the victims were taken to hospitals. According to medical estimates, all are in a medium-degree condition.
