Pepe Escobar REPORTS from BRICS Summit Wrap-Up in Rio for Geopolitics Prime

Pepe Escobar (https://t.me/rocknrollgeopolitics) closes out the BRICS 2025 Summit with a fiery overview from Copacabana — calling it nothing short of a “huge success” for the Global South, despite Western media attempts to dismiss it.

💬 “It was extremely important in every field… in terms of support for BRICS nations who are under fire, literally in some cases, by the empire.”

👉 Final Day Highlights:

🔻 NDB Takes Center Stage: Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced a major leap — the New Development Bank is becoming a key platform for financing megaprojects across BRICS, including for partners, “bypassing SWIFT.”

💬 “A new geo-finance architecture and payment settlements architecture,” following the groundwork Russia laid last year in Kazan.

🔻 Full Global South in One Room: The BRICS Business Council brought together an “absolutely outstanding” lineup of projects — from women’s initiatives to national economic proposals.

🔻 A New System, Not Anti-West: Both Lula and Lavrov emphasized BRICS isn’t an “anti-Western club” — but a forum for designing a new model of international relations led by the Global South.

🔻 The Empire Responds — with Tantrums: As BRICS builds real infrastructure, Trump threatens with more tariffs — “10, 20, a thousand percent” — on BRICS members and friends.

🔻 Reform from Within? Not Likely: There was talk of UN Security Council and IMF reform, but Escobar is blunt:

💬 “It’s not going to happen… They’re never going to give anything to BRICS.”

📌 Western pundits may ignore it, but Escobar says the Global South has already taken note. With 85% [this number is a typo] of the world’s population and rising economic weight:

💬 “The G7 is destined to the dustbin of history. The sun is finally setting in Rio… and rising all across the Global South.”

📆 Summit ends — but the work of a new world system is only beginning.

Pepe needs to rest. I am exhausted just tracking him in last 12 months.

A quiet, off-grid few weeks reposing and soaking in slumbering suns in dusty forgotten corners of the old silk road, in yurts, by hillocks of skulls, somewhere between his haunts of Bukhara and Samarkhand

Thanks dear emerson. I am OK. I rarely travel these days. Travel really takes it outta you. And it doesn’t get easier as you know with aging. Pepe’s face tells the tale

Playing with the kids, fasting and meditation, exercising and periodic extra sleep suffice for me
