China’s top diplomat Wang Yi speaks to the press on sidelines of the Two Sessions

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi speaks about country’s foreign policy, US trade pressure

Translation follows after the questions in Chinese. I expect a transcript but this is not out yet.

Here is a summary on the Tariff Trade War issue by Brian Berletic:

Chinese Foreign Minister Lays Out Basic Truth Behind US Tariffs & Anti-China Propaganda

▪️US tariffs are aimed at constraining China, not evening trade balances;

▪️US tariffs have not improved life for Americans or the American economy (it is designed to decouple from China ahead of wider confrontation and possibly war, not “fix” the US economy);

▪️US’ problem with drug abuse must be solved inside the US, blaming China is an excuse (like blaming Chinese steel for America’s gun violence);

Once again the Trump administration poses as reversing previous aggression and confrontation with China all while actually preparing the ground to expand it. Biden administration-era is eagerly repeated by the Trump administration.

Luckily China’s leadership isn’t falling for MAGA or empty overtures of “peace” or “cooperation” and the analysis that has been posted in various posts on Continuity of Agenda.

Pepe Escobar summarizes:

Wang Yi was on a roll at the Two Sessions today.

Arguably, this is the Top Three:

China and Russia’s “mature and resilient relationship…will not be swayed by any turn of events or be affected by any third party.”

“The Global South holds the key to bringing stability to the world and making it a better place.”

“No country should fantasize that it can suppress China and maintain good relations with us at the same time.”

This last one is very interesting as it is the very same that President Claudia Sheinbaum from Mexico conveyed to the US. She said how does the Trump administration expect stable relationships stable if you (Trump) wants to harm our people with your tariffs.
