Saudi Arabia: The philosophy, the views, the future
Tucker Carlson interviews the richest man in Saudi Arabia: Prince Al Waleed.
Update from Pepe shortly after posting: To understand where Saudi Arabia is going, listen to the Prince, not to official Riyadh. This is especially true for understanding where Saudi Arabia is NOT going with the BRICS.
It is almost certain that Tucker’s objective with this interview is not what we can learn from it. His objectives are clear if you follow his questions.
We seldom find clarity in statements from Saudi Arabia. Here is clarity. It explains the changes that we’ve seen over the past number of years. The Prince outlines the differences in thinking of the monarchies in the region vs. the so-called democracies. He explains why the monarchies have no respect for Iran, for example, Syria, Hezbollah, or Hamas. He says that these countries and groups—he calls them democracies—are not stable but does not mention that they have been destabilized. Besides the interesting investment portfolio, it becomes clear why the monarchies like Donald Trump.
Once the general principles are explained, it is understandable why Saudi Arabia is playing hot and cold with BRICS. From other sources, Saudi Arabia wants to be the undisputed regional leader, which puts them at odds with Israel. Rebuilding Gaza has also become a pragmatic, hard political and business decision, and the heat is on. They say they cannot rebuild because Bibi will shoot it up again. That gives the Trump plan a headstart. This is why they say they will not be part of a normalization of relationships with Israel unless there is a path to, or a real attempt at, a Palestinian State. Is this part of the hard and pragmatic business thinking, or is this honorable and caring for the Palestinians? I would guess the first.

In the background, we have the Chinese initiative to build bridges between Saudi Arabia (and the other monarchies) and Iran. At this moment, it is progressing, with both sides showing willingness.
For anyone who wants to study the area more seriously, the Valdai Club has just had its Middle East Conference. In the sixth session, the criticism of the countries in the region was explained again in a realistic and pragmatic discussion: https://vk.com/video-214192832_456239253
This specific discussion is described as follows: Amid the turbulence in the region, formulating long-term development strategies seems almost impossible. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries are showing intellectual courage by formulating long-range development plans, including those of scientific, technological and social nature. Are these plans feasible in the context of general uncertainty? Can they become a driving force for the entire region? These and other questions will be discussed on February 5 by the participants of the sixth session of the 14th Middle East Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club, in collaboration with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The second speaker states it clearly: there is an attempt to create a lasting disorder, i.e., perpetual war. I would suggest hearing the second speaker at least, at time marker 9:00.
The full conference is here. Many regional speakers were involved. https://valdaiclub.com/events/announcements/the-14th-middle-east-conference-of-the-valdai-discussion-club-and-the-institute-of-oriental-studies/
It is clear that this whole region is morphing and changing. Ideas, philosophies, and methods are being discussed and refined. There is a new interest in developing, but not as US lackeys. This will have world-changing effects, and we must take cognisance of how and why this is happening.
The prince’s comments near the end regarding Iran are illustrative. To paraphrase: every country Iran touches turns to chaos. Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Hamas,Yemen. That’s the Saudi view of the Iranian government. A large divide to bridge when we hear Saudi and Iran are ‘coming together’. I would guess talks will… Read more »

Well the opening 5 minutes is a plug for Trump from the Prince (as per Tucker’s continuing playbook of international interviews)
Trump is bringing clarity on both domestic and international policy states the prince! Yeah right. Where can this interview possible go from there? That’s a rhetorical question.
Yeah all the sane prefer the Orange man to the crashtestdummy. You may be milked dry past the point of no return, but at least one [used to have] reference, before Orange 2.0 went bonkers. This interview with Tucker appears an overture to Trump by one faction. It’s a mess,… Read more »
