Into the storm – Open Thread: grappling with the chaos reshaping our world today

Let us sit back for a moment and observe and reflect. It is too early; it is premature, to claim solutions or control.

Most of the commentators are assessing the supposed results of Trump’s first week in office. Let them do it. Let us sit back for the next day and consider the chaos.

To kick off, take a look at the discussion video from some friends at the China Writer’s Group: Jeff Brown, Patrice Greenville and Quan Le. This is a good entry to observation. So is the Michael Hudson/Richard Wolf’s discussion posted yesterday.

On Trump, there is one thing to say: Take Trump seriously, just not at his word! He either misdirects or starts what he thinks of as negotiation. On early reflection, we see two emergent trends. One is Fortress America and the other is Destabilize the World and take down everyone that is not Fortress America, in order to gather resources for Fortress America to survive in luxury. A quick forecast for the next week, is that people, countries, groups are going to start saying NO to Trump, and that will be NO for maga as well. The word that I saw most frequently in the past week, is CRAZY!
