Forwarded from Older than Edda: “The key difference between the treaties between Russia and Iran and the DPRK is the issue of alliance. Article 5.2 has salient note on “military cooperation .. [to] cover joint maritime .. operations .. [in] combating piracy and armed robbery at sea.” this is timely as a mooted “intervention” by the incoming Orange Gang is interdiction of Iranian oil enroute to China… the lines are drawn for Rules-based… Read more »

I wish the US commentators will start seeing things as they are, and not in relation specifically to the US. This agreement ‘signals’ nothing to the US. It is a comprehensive agreement of cooperation according to the times and according to the strategic interests of the two countries (and some… Read more »
I see in the link that Larch posted “security” is mentioned several times in the Treaty, but in a kind of lukewarm way, unlike the deadly North Korean treaty, but words such as “strengthen cooperation in the field of security^ can of course have different meanings, I guess.

Andrei Martyanov, just released video today, indicates a separate Military Agreement is in the works between both military ministries and will likely be kept ‘secret’. russia & iran have agreed to refrain from actions like israeli airstrikes in lebanon & syria. it doesn’t read like a threat, to an untrained observer, it could read like an invitation but in civilizational speak it means the retaliation won’t be the ground between iran & the zio-entity but… Read more »
The Key Provisions that I’ve just posted as an update brings some clarity.
this is unclear to me too. It could be poor translation, or intermediary spin, working from the Russian source. Let’s see what the official English translation says in next days.. Regardless, much appears anodyne boilerplate, as between Russia-China. The real agreements and annals may not become public. It may be… Read more »
