I think, but that is doubtful
Most people think of themselves as thinkers rather than feelers. They think they are rational rather than intuitive. But the question is whether they use one of these two traits dominantly or whether perhaps something else is dominant.
If you as a reader find this question interesting and think about it, then you are indeed a thinker. When your whole body signals that there is some truth to the question, then you are indeed a feeler. Both can happen at the same time, by the way. But just as well, you only raised your eyebrows and just read on.
By nature, man, like all other life on Earth and in this Universe, is primarily a feeler. We do say that intelligence belongs to our brain, but our brain is quite backward compared to nature. Plants and animals are intelligent because they feel and by that I mean they “know”. Plants and animals live in the “now” and follow their feeling/knowing. Man can do this by nature too, but because man can also think, he makes choices that go against (his) nature. This is not very intelligent.
Man’s brain is built on the intelligence of life that begins with energy supply. Without energy, there is no life. Consciousness can only materialize if there is energy. Our energy supply is our digestive system, that is where our intelligence begins and that is built on to our reptilian brain and mammalian brain. Mammals are able to think. Humans learn to use their brains by thinking. By using this organ, it is further developed. That’s how all of nature works. This is what evolution is about and we see this all around us.
So our brain and our thinking have an important function in human evolution. The most important function even. What distinguishes us from the animal world is that we can think better. That we cannot yet do this thinking very well is another issue. We have been given our ability to think and so we will have to develop it in order to use it properly. In order to do that, a lot has to happen. Not only must our thinking become better, but above all we must start thinking more. The point is that we think too little. Real thinking.
Man is lazy when it comes to thinking. The greatest proof of this was in 2020 when the masses allowed themselves to be frightened by Corona. Very quickly it became clear that all was not as bad as it seemed (was told), but very few people used their brains to really think and draw conclusions. But there are more and many examples that people don’t actually think, but just go along with the crowd. Like ants, most people run after others. Perhaps that is understandable if you know that after you have thought you have to do something with those thoughts. If you are afraid of the consequences, it is better not to think. Somehow you know the truth but don’t really think about it to avoid having to follow up your thoughts.
When you read this writing and let it come to you, try to understand and critically engage with it, you reflect. Not superficially, but deeply. The goal is to assess what you find and, if it is useful to you, integrate it into yourself. By thinking you enrich yourself and that is exactly what the evolution of man is. We must learn to think well and deeply. The special thing about this is that when we think really well and deeply we learn to consciously activate our feeling and intuitive knowing. Consciousness can only materialize in our thinking. Consciousness will always be there, but we can know consciousness only in our thinking. It is funny to hear and read how many people reject thinking as the causative agent of the many problems man makes and has. It is precisely that we don’t think enough that those problems have a chance to arise and worsen.
Have you really thought about the following issues?
+ If you can’t take anything with you in death, what do you actually own?
+ If animals don’t marry, why should humans?
+ If God doesn’t talk to you directly, why does he talk to someone else?
The problem with people is that they follow other people’s thoughts without thinking critically themselves. Humans are creatures of habit. We are conditioned and mostly talk after others. We are afraid of standing alone and not belonging to a group. People cling to age-old traditions because “that’s the way it’s supposed to be”. We have always done it this way so we keep doing it this way. These are just the rules. As if we used to be able to think so well in our past. Whereas in the past, very intelligent people were indeed born who passed on prophetic wisdom to mankind. Unfortunately, some of that wisdom ended up in books instead of in our brains. When we don’t use our thinking we have no wisdom. When we do not use our thinking we do not become wise ourselves.
So above all, we will have to learn to think for ourselves. Learn to think well and deeply. Only then can we break down the prison of other people’s thoughts and be free. All the wisdom in books we will have to invent ourselves, because other people’s wisdom can only have value when we ourselves are wise. Habits and traditions we can forget because they keep us stuck in the past. The teachings of our parents, educators and teachers are not truths until we ourselves have accepted them as true by thinking about them ourselves. So do that. Reject everything until you have thought about it yourself. This does not have to be done all at once, but step by step. That is a lifelong process. It is exactly what evolution is.
And if you don’t, then it doesn’t matter. Evolution does not depend on you. Evolution has all the time and one day man will be able to think properly and deeply. That thinking will be integrated with feeling and inner intuitive knowing. Consciousness will materialize to a greater degree in our brain and body. By that time we will understand it better and then humans will also become human faster. Nature is so incredibly intelligent that everything fits together exactly and follows a unified evolutionary process. You only have to look at nature to learn how everything fits together. When we develop our thinking we perfect our humanity. By thinking we learn to consciously feel and know. It is the only way and it is simply outlined in the evolution of life. But you don’t have to believe me, because I doubt everything.

Hello Nico, These home-page postings are too constricted for discussion. So I answered the above on my post number 15. If you post on the Hearty Salon, of course I will answer on your original. Here’s the link:
Hume said it best! Reason is and ought only to be the slave of the passions.
All emotions and passions come from thinking. Feeling as in intuitive knowing comes to us from the unseen world. We can open to it consciously, but then we must think in order to be conscious. How did Hume arrive at his insights? One is not more important than the other,… Read more »
You define feeling equals intuitive knowing, sourced in the unseen. Isn’t feeling normally defined as a pressure in the body, either more or less contraction than the normal. Aren’t those feelings always translated to emotion? That is my definition, probably from the dictionary too. You say we must think to be conscious, NOT! One exception… Read more »
I know I use the word feeling in a different way most people do. Indeed feeling equals intuitive knowing. When you feel something is not right or is right, that hunch, you often can’t explain it but it’s there and you could deal with that hunch or ignore it. Your… Read more »
Hi Nico, these are big topics. I’ll lay out my perception of them in a post #17, in a few days. There will be more space to visualize how we both are approaching it.
Hi W, Do you have any passions? Each society has their own limit to passion, enforced by social pressure, (up until being shot). I post on this form, so is that some modicum of passion? Hume should have said Reason is the slave of FEAR.
