The Lancet study on the Gaza death toll.

A recent study published by The Lancet on 9 January reveals that Gaza’s death toll from Israel’s war is undercounted by at least 41%, placing the true toll at 64,260 deaths between October 2023 and June 2024. The study, conducted by leading institutions, found 59% of the deaths were women, children, and the elderly, with hospitals struggling to report accurately due to destruction and blockades. Many deaths remain unrecorded, especially those caused by starvation, disease, and people trapped under rubble.

The Lancet also warned indirect deaths could surpass direct casualties by fourfold, potentially leading to 186,000 or more deaths. Meanwhile, Gaza’s infrastructure has been decimated, leaving the enclave unlivable. Amnesty International recently declared there is “sufficient evidence” that the Israeli regime’s actions constitute genocide.

Since the study is from Oct. 2023, up to Jun. 2004, a very rough estimate up to now would be to divide the number of 64 260 by the number of months being 9 which gives us (and I stress this is not formal at all), + 7,000 ‘countable’ dead per month. If we take that number and multiply it by the number of months, Oct. 2023 to end Dec. 2024, i.e., 15 months, we would arrive at a death toll of + 107,000 (working number) in little Gaza, mainly non-combatants, civilians, people and children and mothers and fathers and grandparents and uncles and aunts and nieces and nephews.   It is that number that the Lancet explains do not contain indirect deaths which could surpass direct casualties by fourfold.

This does not include small or severe injuries, kidnapped and jailed people and people bombed to smithereens and picked up in bags and weighed, the uncountable.   The Lancet talks about the deterioration of statistics as the situation overall in Gaza deteriorated.  The report states that hospitals in Gaza City and North Gaza governorates stopped reporting on Nov 2, 2023.

I’ve seen in the zionist social networks that they consistently question the numbers of the Gaza Health Ministry.  The Lancet states:  ” Our study supports the view that the MoH figures are more likely to underestimate than overestimate mortality. This evidence confirms the need for urgent international interventions to prevent further loss of life and address the long-term health consequences of the Israeli military assault in Gaza.”

The findings of the Lancet are:

We estimated 64 260 deaths (95% CI 55 298–78 525) due to traumatic injury during the study period, suggesting the Palestinian MoH under-reported mortality by 41%. The annualised crude death rate was 39·3 per 1000 people (95% CI 35·7–49·4), representing a rate ratio of 14·0 (95% CI 12·8–17·6) compared with all-cause mortality in 2022, even when ignoring non-injury excess mortality. Women, children (aged <18 years), and older people (aged ≥65 years) accounted for 16 699 (59·1%) of the 28 257 deaths for which age and sex data were available.

And:

The Lancet also warned indirect deaths could surpass direct casualties by fourfold, potentially leading to 186,000 or more deaths. Meanwhile, Gaza’s infrastructure has been decimated, leaving the enclave unlivable. Amnesty International recently declared there is “sufficient evidence” that the Israeli regime’s actions constitute genocide.

This is a shame on the consciousness of humanity.

It is this that now is being hidden under a mass of hasbarra and propaganda.  https://sovereignista.com/2025/01/07/israel-ramps-up-propaganda-blitz-allocates-150-million-to-gloss-over-genocide/
