“Hazelnuts are here. How long until the hypersonic “pistachios” arrive?”
By Quantum Bird
Straight to the point. The appearance of the new Russian hypersonic weapons system, nicknamed Oreshnik – or hazelnut tree – is a significant step towards the obsolescence of nuclear bombs. Details about the design and operation of the Oreshnik remain scarce, but we do know that it is a medium-range ballistic missile with multiple reentry warheads. The system was “tested” against a target on Ukrainian territory, a city-sized factory called Yuzhmash, located near the city of Dnepropetrovsk. The damage was massive, and the absence of major explosions, as one can see in the videos of the attack shared on the internet, suggests an operation based on the dissipation of the kinetic energy of the projectiles into shock waves and heat on the impact with the target. Like a supersonic dense metallic meteorite would do.
Hypersonic hazelnuts are here to stay. President Putin himself has already indicated that new targets are being selected for additional “tests” on Ukrainian territory – for now. UK, France, Poland and Romenia are making their best to qualify as test grounds as well.
My point is the following. As we know, Iran has a doctrine of repudiation of weapons of mass destruction, especially nuclear weapons. We also know that the Iranians are part of the select group of countries that have mastered hypersonic missile technology. Considering the inspiration given by the Russians with the Oreshnik and the additional motivation provided by the prospect of the renewal of the campaign of maximum pressure and threads attacks on Iran by the US and Israel, how long do we have before the Persian version of the Oreshnik — which I call, for lack of a better name, hypersonic pistachios – appears?
Just saying…

There was a remark made by an Iranian General in an interview a few months ago (the details escape me now) who made an interesting comment, that Iran had devised some new undisclosed weapons based on ‘new physics’ or, ‘newly discovered physics’. Some term like that. It’s interesting to me… Read more »
Hello, thank you very much for posting this. There is a typo in the title, part of it is repeated. The original one is :
Hazelnuts are here. How long until the hypersonic “pistachios” arrive?
So sorry and apologies QB. I should get off the keyboard now!
“how long do we have before the Persian version of the Oreshnik..?” I think it may already exist. They’ve promised something “bigger than nukes.” They’ve already engineered hypersonics, incredible ballistics, and rained MIRVs on Zion! There is tech exchange with DPRK for decades too. Can we call the compliment to… Read more »
