Let’s talk DOGE

We have on the site a method to categorize posts. There are several categories but two specifically are of importance. The one is ‘The Empire Files’ and the other ‘The Resistance Files’. I find myself using The Resistance Files more and more as we deal with complexities not easily identified.  This one is categorised The Empire Files.

Let’s talk DOGE for a moment. DOGECOIN is a cryptocurrency and back in 2013 in the old days it was made as a joke. It was two fellows that came together and made this cryptocurrency just to say they did it. It was created as a joke in late 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. Both Billy and Jackson thought that cryptocurrency was being taken far too seriously and wasn’t much fun. Jackson created the Dogecoin.com website and would have been, for a while, the public face of Dogecoin, while Billy worked as a solo developer on the first 4 releases. Musk knows that DOGE was created as a joke.  Anyone who knows anything about Crypto knows that.  So the Department Of Government Efficiency must be a joke to him.  This is how developers think and he is a developer.   Our second internet company back in the very early 1990’s was called 42.  Yes, the meaning of life, the universe and everything and a whole stack of meanings in computing.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/42_(number).  This will illustrate the levels of meaning that we consulted at the time of having to name a company.   The name DOGE is meaningful, I believe in some historical contexts, but here we will contain this to the very modern context.

What can we say? A new layer of rich in a department with the name of a joke and a costly hunting dog bred first in Japan (favored by Shiba Inus worldwide) as a meme and a logo, will advise on the poor and working class.

Elon Musk is building a cabal.  We’re witnessing a time that Pareto called the “circulation of elites.”

Every human society throughout time has had elites and WILL have elites. It’s an iron law of reality. There will always be a small subset of humans who are orders of magnitude smarter, wealthier, and more influential than the masses.

Elon Musk is the poster boy of a rising new elite and he knows that. He does not hold himself back on commenting on other countries.  It is not an accident that his buddy from Argentina, Javier Milei, is the first on a Presidential level to dance at Mar A Lago and celebrate the Trump victory, while the Argentinians are finding it impossible to keep body and soul together.

The day after the election, he posted a picture of himself and Trump on Xr with the caption “Novus Ordo Seclorum,” which means ‘new order of the ages.’  Who will be slated to starve, is my question?  For him, his moment is at a turning point. Musk is openly anti-woke, anti-DEI, pro-free speech. (Whether he believes those things is another matter. The point is that this is how he’s positioned himself as a counter elite.)

He is prolific on X and each time I check it, his face is there two or three times, preaching his philosophy to the twitter masses.  I cannot block him, he will perform for the masses.  His besties are new media elites such as Joe Rogan and of course, Milei.

Musk didn’t buy Twitter so he could make a lot of money. He already does that better than literally any other person on the planet. Musk bought Twitter because he rightfully recognized that it can shape real-world culture and even win elections, which it was just used to do. Twitter is the most powerful internet platform that’s ever existed because of its sway over public opinion and it’s deep insights into public opinion via data analysis and these days AI analysis.

Musk wants to move cultures. He understands that being able to affect culture is the greatest kind of power in the world. Musk saw in Trump an opportunity to have more influence and control over the US government but also the wider world that uses X, than ever before, allowing him to pursue his own agendas more easily.

What are those agendas?  Well, those will be be revealed as time rolls on.  I know of one.  Can you guess?
