Maria Zakharova: the United States is a party to the Ukraine conflict

Russia’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer (https://mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/news/1967117/) to a media question about the provocative remarks by Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh and White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby

❓ Question: What is your response to Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh’s statement confirming that the United States has allowed the Kiev regime to use US weapons to defend Ukraine against “Russian attacks” from the Kursk Region? What is Russia’s attitude to such comments by Pentagon’s spokespersons? Won’t these statements escalate the Ukraine crisis even further?

💬 Maria Zakharova: I would like to start by saying that the United States is actually a party to the Ukraine conflict. Overwhelmed by its hegemonic ambitions and its desire to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia, Washington time after time raises the degree of tension in relations with Russia. Contrary to official statements by a number of high-ranking US officials, it is not seeking to defuse the tensions.

This is confirmed not only by Ms Singh’s remarks you have referred to but also by White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby’s statement at his August 26 briefing. When asked about the likelihood of Ukraine extending the range of its missile strikes at Russian territories, he replied that the US was holding these conversations with the Nazi and terrorist (as proved by the recent events) Kiev regime in private.

All of this suggests quite serious conclusions. Ukraine has been given a free hand for operations in the Russian regions. Moreover, the Biden administration seems to be ready to make new concessions to Zelensky and let off the leash on using the whole range of US weapons, including those that can hit targets deep in the Russian hinterland.

❗️ The US escalatory course is becoming increasingly outrageous. One has the impression that the US establishment has thrown the remainder of commonsense to the winds and believes that anything goes for them.

I am reading right now of horrific new cluster bomb shelling of Belgorod city inside Russia. I don’t know yet whether it’s use of the longer range weapons, but Belgorod has been terrorized for a year now.. not only is war brought back inside Russia by the cowardly demented, they’re… Read more »

A contrarian position; it is unhelpful for Russia to keep repeating this.  All who count by now know the West is complicit. The majority on earth aren’t even aware a world war is being waged; most struggle with daily survival and food.. Rote repetition without overt consequences feeds western narratives.… Read more »

i see this slightly differently. empire is solely responsible. this is the culmination. empire armed the nazis & now sets them like a maloise bred to kill russians. ‘freeing’ empire to concentrate on west asia & china. vassal states, east & west, embrace the dark side without thinking, full throttle… Read more »

Calm down AHH, Russia is doing its best to NOT become another evil. I know you are just venting, but i don’t agree with the good vs evil narrative, its way too simplistic. If you are truly good then you won’t do any unnecessary evil, and war is inherently evil… Read more »
