The Coordination Council on Security issues of the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions has been established in the Russian Defense Ministry, head of the Department Andrey Belousov said on August 15.

Belousov clarified that the coordination council is not a substitute for operational management of the actions of troops and forces. This is still the task of the command of the North group, as well as the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The creation of a coordination council and additional security measures are justified in a situation fraught with escalation, experts believe.

Federal emergency mode in the Belgorod region

Earlier, the situation in the Belgorod region was recognized as a federal emergency. This was announced by the Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov on August 15 at an extraordinary meeting of the government commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and fire safety. The situation in the region remains difficult and tense, the Minister said.

“As a result of terrorist attacks by Ukrainian armed formations in the Belgorod region, residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged, and there are dead and injured citizens,” the minister said.

The population is being provided with all possible assistance, but the scale of what is happening does not allow the region to independently eliminate the consequences of the current emergency situation, Alexander Kurenkov stressed.

It is unacceptable that prices for food and basic necessities in the region are unreasonably increased, the Minister said. He instructed the Federal Antimonopoly Service to take an active part in this work.

It is important that in the Belgorod region, security measures were taken in advance, said military expert Gennady Alyokhin in an interview with Izvestia.

“The Belgorod region is constantly in the line of fire, especially in the border areas,” he said. — It’s been under fire for at least a year and a half. Last year there were attempts to break through, and in March of this year. Just a day or two ago, the enemy tried to break through to the territory of the Krasnoyaruzhsky district.

– The military does not disclose secrets, but the border in the Belgorod area is securely covered. It is not for nothing that the group of troops “North” was created in April, which operates precisely in the Belgorod border area and in the Kharkiv direction, ” the expert assured.

Over the past three days, the enemy did not launch missile strikes in the direction of Belgorod, but air raid sirens sounded, added Gennady Alyokhin.

How to help residents of border areas

The population in the Belgorod region is not in a panic mood, the head of the regional executive committee of the Popular Front, Alexey Klykov, assured Izvestia.

– The Armed Forces of Ukraine have a new tactic: they hit the same apartment with drones several times to damage the supporting structures of the house. That is, they frighten and intimidate the civilian population, ” he explained.

On August 13, the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that more than 11 thousand people left the Krasnoyaruzhsky district due to the operational situation, since it is located near the Kursk region. About 1 thousand people found themselves in temporary accommodation facilities.

Hot food and hygiene products are provided to people in the DPR, Alexey Klykov assured.

— I keep in touch with the municipalities where temporary accommodation points are located. If there is a specific need, we are ready to come to the rescue, provide people with the necessary support — ” he stressed. — But all the minimum basic needs of people are provided.

According to him, leisure activities are organized for children. The authorities of the Belgorod region were ready for the current situation and promptly respond to it, Alexey Klykov noted.

– Yesterday, for example, we brought a ton of water to the PVR at our request. Summer, hot, water is very necessary. This is a student dormitory. There, four people live in each block of two rooms. They have their own bathroom and a small kitchen, the conditions are very good — ” he said.
