How do we move forward?
by Nico Cost for GlobalSouth.co – We welcome a new writer.
There are repeated proposals to replace bad leaders and disband corrupt organizations. There are analyses of how misery arose and what would be better solutions. Which systems don’t work and which do? The focus is invariably on how we humans work together, on organizations, culture, and politics. But haven’t we been doing this for centuries and are we getting anywhere that way?
You can find Tommy Douglas’ video “Mouseland” on YouTube. Humans are like mice and have the memory of a goldfish. A few thousand years ago there were very wise people walking the Earth, but apparently, their prophecies and enlightening insights have still not penetrated the collective human consciousness. Are we going to solve this by things outside us?
When a bad leader is replaced by a good leader, won’t that good leader at some point be replaced by a bad one? Or once hoisted onto the stage as a human being be tempted to go in the bad direction. Surely we have plenty of examples. Isn’t it that power always corrupts? So many things that start with good intentions, but end up in hassles.
Isn’t it just man himself who is still behaving too primitively? Are we not simply still insufficiently conscious? Aren’t we just moving in circles where we keep alternating peace with war? Don’t we keep running after bad leaders who exchange our lives for their own interests? A leader only has power if we give it. This shows that we followers are a bigger problem than the leader.
The collective West has completely lost its way anno 2024. It still clings frenetically to its colonial mindset where the whole world must do as they please. The western citizen is a slave to the western system, kept stupid by journalists in the service of the western system and ignorant even becoming uninterested in what exactly that western system entails.
One-half of the Western citizenry thinks the world will perish if not everything is controlled. That half thinks that the world is engineerable and that man has a right to control all of life. Abortion must be normal just like euthanasia. The climate must be controlled. You get to decide your gender. Their world is woke. Everyone is equal except those who are against them.
The other half of the Western citizenry thinks that other leaders and organizations are going to bring improvement. They see one shortcoming but completely miss the other. Do they realize what is really going on in Ukraine, do they not realize what is going on in Israel? They hate Islam but don’t see through the game in which Islam too is just a plaything just like the Jews and Christians.
The divide and conquer game has been played out incredibly well for so many years and the citizens have not realized it blinded by the bread and games presented. Their world is becoming more and more unhealthy and meager. The Western world is now morally bankrupt. The level of education is pathetic. Mass immigration has left little of the culture that had potential but never grew into true civilization.
Yet there are still bright spots to be discovered because people did rise in these dark times since 2001, 2008, and 2020. People who did see what was going on opened their mouths against the current. Those who dared to contradict the increasingly intractable narrative of the Western system by bringing the truth to light. Even knowing the fate of whistleblowers.
Yet the masses are unaware. Ignorant. Unfortunately, often knowingly. One-half doesn’t want to know. The other half thinks it knows, but doesn’t see through the whole picture. One-half wants more control. The other half wants different leaders and organizations. People look for solutions outside themselves. That is exactly the big problem. We have forgotten that thousands of years ago those wise men were pointing this out.
Nobody is going to solve it for us. We have to do it ourselves. As long as we don’t, we keep repeating what we have been doing wrong for century after century. A few generations down the road, we’ll have forgotten the lessons and start the wrong thing all over again. Where the real lessons that matter are not written down in thick books full of laws, rules, commandments and dogmas. They can be found elsewhere.
Where did those sages get their enlightening insights? What did those sages tell us where to look? We did not have to listen to them but to make the connection ourselves to obtain the wisdom directly. It is the way inward that leads to enlightenment. Getting to know yourself, connecting with the self. Through that, you learn to connect with the whole, by going inward.
The future is largely determined by our intentions. When we are loving in our hearts, that love flows into the world. In doing so, the world changes for the better. Wei wu wei, doing by doing nothing. Love before action. Evolution is the Tao of awareness. This is the only way out of hell, the only way that can bring heaven to Earth. Whether you believe in God or not, it is a universal truth.
Religions are also just a system. Science is also just a system. Nothing can stand between us and God. Or, there can be nothing between us and nature. Only unconscious ignorant people like to stand between people and God, in the desire for status and power. None of the truly wise men we have known had the desire for power. Their followers had no real connection to God.
How long will it take before man becomes conscious enough to actually take a leap in her evolution? What is needed to do that? And, are we humans in control of that? Or should we leave that to evolution itself, to God or nature? Do we not have enough in ourselves to make that true connection? Isn’t our own path difficult enough? And don’t we see nearly eight billion roads are just about lost?
We cannot force it on others. Nor can we offer it to others. That has often been tried and always ended in misery. Man himself must be ready for it. We have no choice in this, other than the choice for our individual selves to go our own way in. But even that, depends on what we have been given as a description for our life. There really is no choice. It is the way it is.
Bravo – great to see you writing here Nico. My 2 cents worth – your paragraph really does nail the entire trap the West finds itself in… Isn’t it just man himself who is still behaving too primitively? Are we not simply still insufficiently conscious? Aren’t we just moving in… Read more »
Thank you for all your comments, kind words and welcome. I’ll write more and maybe it’s interesting enough for this wonderful website. We’ll see. Big hug from me.
We are all looking for the way forward, no doubt of that. But I don’t think we need to invent anything new. We’ve praised Joti Brar’s latest talk with Garland Nixon and I recommend at the very least these six minutes, which begin at 43:08 (timestamped): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZsSj1fu9zM&t=1800s The way forward… Read more »
Sorry, I screwed up the timestamp. It starts at 43:06, and that should be this:

🕊️ love before action.
welcome, dear nico. may love buoy the air beneath our wings.
“This shows that we followers are a bigger problem than the leader.” This is the essence. As you said, “We have to do it ourselves..” All blame cannot be laid to “leaders.” Most have not be worthy throughout human history. Power always tempts to corruption. Both realities are well known. … Read more »
Hi and Good Morning wonderful readers. Kindly welcome Nico. He is asking an existential and prescient question that we have to start dealing with .. How do we move forward? If you have my level of sheer disappointment in the RoW because of Gaza and the Palestinians, then you may… Read more »
