Carl Zha is a Chinese historian and an independent journalist and a very energetic and apt geopolitical analyst.  He runs the Silk and Steel podcast.  That is where I first became aware of his work, years ago and learned a lot of Chinese history without the romance that one generally finds in among the China writers and videograpers. He is also funny and beloved and brilliant in his work.  

It is worth while checking out some of his work. He has unlocked some episodes.

During his formative years he grew up in China, and later went with his family to the US only to settle in Bali, the home of his wife. This is fascinating and real history.
