Cease Fire, says Netanyahu: End the War, says Hamas – UPDATE

But this is the feel-out period for negotiations.  Its on, as I said:  The previous thread is here:

Israel has proposed a “comprehensive new proposal” (aka we’ve won!)

I repeat the Netanyahu comments, and then add the Hamas comments.

Nitwityahoo is trying to negotiate. There is everything, small comments, trial balloons in the media, unknown spokespeople saying he likes the idea, but, nothing that he did before is actually working.

According to local media Israel ready for 42-day ceasefire to free hostages. PM Benjamin Netanyahu said that although he is prepared to halt hostilities in the Gaza Strip, the conflict overall would continue until his aim of annihilating Hamas was achieved. Sorryyyyyyy! This time it is a no and we will see the rest of the world entering into these negotiations. Not that it makes me happy but Bibi will not get his way. There will be a great splitting of the sheep and the wolves. Those that want a quick ceasefire for their own heartache to dissipate and those that want a solution. It is not a beautiful situation.

Israeli media, citing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

We can stop the fighting for 42 days to return the hostages, but we will not give up absolute victory.

– I will not review the details of the deal, but what Biden presented is not accurate and there are details that have not been revealed.

The swap deal proposal includes other details that Biden did not disclose.

– We can stop the fighting to return the kidnapped people, but we cannot stop the war.

– The number of abductees who will be released in the first phase of the deal has not yet been determined.

– The Iranians and all our enemies are looking at us and want to see if we will surrender.

Head of the National Relations Office at Hamas, Hussam Badran, to Safa Agency:

We have not received any new proposal regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the proposal presented to us (https://t.me/PalestineResist/38580) by the mediators on May 6, which was accepted (https://t.me/PalestineResist/38531) by Hamas and the resistance factions, is the adopted stance.

President Joe Biden’s speech concerning negotiations to end the war on Gaza indicates that the occupation and its main supporters are in a state of confusion because they bet on the defeat and collapse of our people and resistance, which did not happen.

Biden’s statement implicitly acknowledged that the occupation is unable to achieve any of the political and military objectives it has announced over the past months.

The United States has the tools and ability to pressure Netanyahu and his extremist government to stop the war because they are the ones refusing to reach any agreement.

Netanyahu is the only party obstructing any agreement and wants the war to continue for personal and partisan reasons, disregarding the regional and international consensus, which is almost unanimous in wanting to stop it.

Netanyahu’s statements somewhat respond to Biden’s speech, indicating he does not want to move toward any practical agreement.

The primary guarantee for implementing any agreement is our strength on the ground as a people and resistance.

We will not allow the occupation to have any role in arranging our internal affairs, whether the situation inside Gaza or managing the crossings in general, especially the Rafah crossing.

The occupation must withdraw from the Rafah crossing, which is a Palestinian consensus, and the previous administration of the crossing should return. Arranging the Palestinian situation is an internal matter we Palestinians will manage without agreeing to any regional or international pressure.

UPDATE

And now the US is trying to follow their own path through the UN.

BREAKING| US Ambassador to the UN Security Council, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, announces that her country circulated a new resolution supporting the proposal now on the table, even after Netanyahu said he rejects the proposal.

Amarynth comments: BUT BBBbbuuttt .. The US had vetoed several resolutions, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Sombody is rolling somebody. ‘Nother somebody done somebody wrong song ….

Russia and China probably won’t sign, and people will be angry but the only paperwork that I saw is completely non-acceptable for anything formal. Yet, I won’t throw away a start.
