Alaska, Bering sea and PLAN

From Nat South at her Livejournal

After the well publicised joint exercises between the Russian Navy (Pacific Fleet) and the Chinese Navy, PLA(N), now reports are in of a group of Russian and Chinese naval ships off Alaska, (probably around the Aleutian island chain).

Eleven Russian and Chinese ships came close to the Aleutian Islands, but never entered U.S. territorial waters according to U.S. officials to WSJ.

Four U.S. destroyers and P-8 aircraft were dispatched to shadow the patrol. It was reportedly a historical first as it is appeared to be the largest such flotilla to approach the U.S.

But it isn’t the first time, as this infographic shows:

The Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy commenced their third joint patrol in the Pacific Ocean, after the Russian Navy Day commemorations in Vladivostok.

The naval ships of both countries formed a “joint detachment” and began following a predetermined route, as confirmed by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.

Kindly visit Nat’s Livejournal for an interesting video of the proceedings.

Ed Note:  We may consider this a little payback for the frequent US military vessel sailby’s in the Straits of Taiwan

The goal is to induce Change in the “other”, the putative “enemy”. It has little or nothing to do with payback or emotion – these are for the credulous plebs…crowd control slogans… . Interesting coincidence Gore Vidal and Aleutian waters> Williwaw novel story… Navigation in these waters is something that… Read more »

Almost choked on my coffee when reading this from the Guardian just now — “Sullivan echoed the sentiments of his fellow Republican Murkowski, saying: “The incursion by 11 Chinese and Russian warships operating together – off the coast of Alaska – is yet another reminder that we have entered a… Read more »

They really believe everything belongs to them Steve. They need some shock therapy or something to be shocked out of their hubris. And, it is happening.

When Russia and China patrol in *international waters* by Alaska just as US warships patrol the South China Sea, Barents Sea, or Baltic Sea by China or Russia, the Americans squeal like a stuck pig. What’s more arrogant is how the United States of Aggression–a country guilty of invading or… Read more »

Not really true that the US squeals every time, note 2015, quite a stark difference since though.

The major China provocations started around 2018, when then U.S. President Donald Trump began setting tariffs and other trade barriers on China with the goal of forcing it to make changes to what the U.S. says are longstanding unfair trade practices and intellectual property theft. The trade war heated and… Read more »

Those pesky FONOPs… Dearly beloved by the US. Written back in 2020 https://thesaker.is/foolish-fonops/ I’m aware of the tensions. I was going to do the same kind of statistics as I did for Russia, on US and NATO ISR flights. Then I realised it would be a lot of research for… Read more »

China slammed export controls on bigger drones that can be used for war purposes. They have a whole list of criteria and will only export little ones… Read more »

Now that’s true, but don’t underestimate the devious tactics of the Chinese…
