The day I understood how deeply propagandized we are

I received a document and it deals with NATO war prisoners from the Korean war.

I’ve been following the deep research work done by Jeffrey Kaye and others on the issue of biological warfare during the Korean war.  Not in depth, but enough to understand what happened there.  Jeffrey also wrote the book “Coverup at Guantanamo”, so one could say his field is researching cover-ups. https://jeff-kaye.medium.com/ https://twitter.com/jeff_kaye

I thought I received this document because of my interest in Jeffrey’s work, but no, when I looked at it, the path was different and almost strange.

It is a manuscript of 97 pages, and of course, not very well known as it suited the war classes to keep this very well hidden from ordinary and inquisitive eyes.

What do you think if you should think of prisoners of war in Korean of Chinese hands, during the Korean war?

Of course, you think of extreme torture and deprivations, you think of chopsticks up their noses until their brains bleed, you think of unbelievably cold and horrible conditions in earth-dug pits, extreme outbreaks of diseases, and a rate of death that is meant to kill these prisoners of war most brutally and quickly.

Is that not what you think? Is something like that not what comes to mind to a lesser or stronger degree if you’ve received any western education or have been exposed to any western media?

And then I read about “The Lenient Policy” and questioned all I ever knew, or thought I knew.  The manuscript has the names of US, UK, French and Turk prisoners of war, their correspondence with their families, visits, food, negotiation with their captors, reading material, cultural activities, sport, even procurement of lamb or chicken for the Turkish prisoners as they do not eat pork, medical treatment, and everything that is of such a nature that it can be researched and confirmed.

The story is told of a small group of prisoners of war who wanted to start a newspaper and that was approved.  The main request from their readers was news on peace!  “We want to know what is happening in our own countries in relation to the peace movement …

Right, I hear you! This was a model camp that was established for purposes of propaganda, we would immediately think.

Evidently no. As the years went on, and the prisoners played sport, tournaments between the different prisoner-of-war camps were arranged. They had contact and could compare their camps with other camps.

Lively entertainment was the order of the day. Here are the ‘Interracial Cats’.

You can download this document here:  https://ia902702.us.archive.org/22/items/united-nations-pows-in-korea/%27United%20Nations%27%20POWs%20in%20Korea.pdf

No, of course it was not all Shangri-La.  The nature of this beast is that it attracts those with anger and those who are attracted to attacking the rest of humanity.  Yet, how quintessential Chinese, the concept of The Lenient Policy, which recognizes us all as human and therefore we have the rights of humans.  As I was reading, I experienced a strong reminder of the humane treatment of the Russians to Ukrainian POW’s.  And my last thoughts were of discussions between the GlobalSouthies on the roots of racism.

These societies are not only humane, but civilized, and that is the difference between a racist and someone who is not.

What’s interesting is the willingness of the target audience (on both sides) to fall for their own side’s propaganda, which all media is. It seems like propaganda, true or false, hijacks human nature’s instinct to close ranks and create unity in their own tribe, increasing chances of survival in the… Read more »

Recalling that the western POWs spoke of dropping germ bombs and so forth. Such truths were white-washed and hidden in west. Like really suppressed. In order to do this, the nazis invented “brain-washing” as a fairy-tale…and in order to make their absurd claims of “commie brain washing” seem realistic, the… Read more »

Re: “And inclined to believe that stories about the US simply murdering US officers being held in “enemy” POW status” Yes. This is an ancient rite. Didn’t Romans have it, punishment of those who fraternalized with the targeted enemy? Certainly Brits punished those who “went native,” at the least ostracizing… Read more »

Glad you published this. George Blake was a POW in Korea. He says (iirc) that the good treatment accorded the POWs against the firebombing they knew of or saw, was what decided him to become George Blake of History. Best! P
