Dare we hope? China’s peace train goes to Palestine

Xi Jinping made a 3 part proposal to solve the Palestine issue once and for all.

Basic short and of necessity limited background

Of course, Israel has ignored every single UN and UNSC resolution outright while the US supported them in their outright murder of Palestinians spree.  We have seen with horror the regular bombing of Gaza, Palestinians stuffed into jail with no recourse, heinous human rights violations and a hostile state ideology.   One would have to write a book.  Oh right, many have been written.   

At the moment, the rate of Israeli plunder of disputed territories continues unabated, while there are millions of Palestinians who owned their houses and their lands, now in refugee camps mainly on the West Bank.  They get killed routinely.  Preferably young ones. During this year, a Palestinian or four was killed daily. This is but one of the latest, and the excuses are becoming more ludicrous:

This is but an insignificant example as this is happening daily.

Unlike the Donbass with its ongoing slaughter since 2014, Palestinians have been slaughtered for 75 years. Just recently Roger Waters spoke out about this, as he was dumped into a ‘cancellation’ process, because of his support of the Palestinians. Twitter removed the notification of Roger’s address. There is hope in some US circles for the presidential candidacy of RFK Jr. I have just listened to an in-depth interview with Glen Greenwald, and by time marker 35:00, RFK Jr. starts accusing the Palestinians and sings Zionist apartheid praises and considers Israel a true democracy in the Middle-East. RFK Jr really became squirrely, when Greenwald asked him why his support for Roger Waters was removed, because he did remove it. China’s peace plan

Xi Jinping stressed that the Palestinian question has remained unresolved for over half a century, causing great suffering to the Palestinian people; justice must be done to Palestine as soon as possible.

First, the fundamental solution lies in the establishment of an independent state of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders and with east Jerusalem as its capital, he said.

Second, Palestine’s economic and livelihood needs should be met, and the international community needs to step up development assistance and humanitarian aid to Palestine, he said.

Third, it is important to keep to the right direction of peace talks. The historical status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem should be respected, and excessive and provocative words and actions should be avoided. A large-scale, more authoritative and more influential international peace conference should be convened so as to create conditions for the resumption of peace talks and contribute tangible efforts to help Palestine and Israel live in peace, he said.

These three points are not earth-shattering.  They are pragmatic, non-complicated, and legal.  They are simply what the UN had agreed to and enshrined in UNSC resolutions, i.e., International  Law,  a number of times.  It is because of US intransigence and support for Israel, that they were not implemented whatsoever.  For my complete life, I’ve watched one after the other US-sponsored plan, new Abrahams accords being the latest and falling apart, and a raft of positive-sounding summits at the romantic-sounding Camp David. Not one of these was conflated by honest brokers and the subtext in each case was to circumvent the UN International Legal rulings.  Larry Romanov has some background.

There were further notes from China, that Palestine should immediately join the UN.

This is the sticky issue, that Israel will never agree to:  “… two-state solution on the basis of the 1967 borders and with east Jerusalem as its capital”.  They have appropriated so much land that even a two-state solution now will leave many of the Jews under Palestinian rule. Then we get an actor like Donald Trump, who cool as a cucumber gave Jerusalem to the ruling Zionists as if it was his to give.  There is the concept of the Greater Israel, and who knows, if China starts bringing together a world coalition, perhaps someone will say something about the regular targeting and bombing by Israel of Syria as well.  And of course the Golan Heights become Syrian. It will be a solution of immense Karma.

Even knowing that, dare we hope?
